About the All-Encompassing Power of Art

London, 2005: After many years in film, actress Dora is back on the theatre stage – in her early forties, she can look back on a successful career. When she meets the painter Victor in a bar after the premiere, she is fascinated: who is this man who has never heard of her? Dora sees this encounter as a chance to hide: from her mother, who
constantly calls from Frankfurt, from her agent, who wants to convince her to take on different roles, and perhaps also from her unpleasant colleague, who repeatedly tests her limits. After spending a few weeks together, Dora decides that Victor should paint her – but when she sees the painting, the ground is pulled from under her feet and longforgotten memories return. What does Dora think she recognizes in the picture?

“Final Act” masterfully depicts the intertwining of life and art and sensitively tells the story of a liberation that changes everything.
