MERCEDES LAUENSTEIN

Mercedes Lauenstein, born in Kappeln in 1988, writes novels, essays, columns and literary reportage for newspapers and magazines. Together with Juri Gotschall, she writes regular recipes and thoughts on eating and consumer culture for Splendido. She lives in Munich and Northern Italy. Since then, they have researched and written together about Italy, good products, cooking, and consumer culture. In 2022, their first cookbook “Splendido. Italian cooking with the best ingredients and a lot of feeling” was published by DuMont; in 2023, “Splendido. Italian product knowledge and recipes” followed. Both books<br />won the German Cookbook Prize. In 2025, they dedicated themselves to seasonal cuisine with “Splendido. Primavera/Estate” and “Splendido. Autunno/Inverno.”
