The Beauty of Life
Paula and Peter have been colleagues for a long time. She is a doctor, and he works as a lawyer in the hospital administration. The two of them have always had an eye for one another and, after going away for a multi-day seminar, they find themselves spending the final night together.
They head home, but a strike means they only get as far as Würzburg. They still don’t know what they mean to each other, and they have a whole day unexpectedly free – what should they do? They opt to explore the city and its surroundings, cautiously growing closer all the
while. Peter struggles with the uncertainty of what the future might hold for them. Paula responds to his urging with a mixture of playfulness and annoyance. She wants to enjoy the moment and prefers to avoid the question of what tomorrow will bring. When a cat decides to tag along with them, they learn from its example how tricky
it is for human beings to live in the moment, without a plan, and surrender themselves to a sense of freedom.
