“Complex characters who stay in your head, packed into a sweeping story. A brilliant novel.”

“A fascinating, sometimes oppressive crime novel right from the very first page.”
Cornelia Hoppe, NEWS on ›At the End of the Pain‹

A dark family secret set against the backdrop of Cornwall

The first autumn storms gather over Cornwall, and DI Colin Brown is feeling gloomy. His wife has gone away for a few weeks, and he and the children have to fend for themselves. Now of all times, he is faced with an unsettling case: Sixteen-year-old Clara Wellington has disappeared. Colin tries to find the girl with the help of search troops and volunteers, but after a few days there is still no trace of the girl. Then he comes across a similar case, which happened six years ago in the neighbouring vil-lage: A girl disappeared after a school festival, she was also a member of the school orchestra and very talented. This can’t be a coincidence. But what’s the connection between the two cases? Colin doesn’t have much time left to find out if he wants to save Clara’s life…

Iris Grädler illuminates the gap that a missing child leaves in a family with remarkable observational skills and a fantastic sense for the psychology of her characters. ‘Rage of Silence’ is simultaneously a gripping crime novel and evocative family drama.
