MÄNNER OHNE WORTE/ MEN WITHOUT WORDS

Men on the verge of a nervous breakdown … it’s enough to leave you speechless

A man’s lot is difficult … and to tell the truth there are good reasons for that. Whether it involves the master of the barbeque who valiantly soaks the electric grill with lighter fluid – with explosive consequences. Or the young-at-heart toupee-wearer who walks into the kitchen at the wrong moment (this comes under the heading: extractor hood). Or the ambitious do-it-yourselfer who forgets to turn off the fuse when installing electric appliances, causing his own fuses to blow. The list goes on.
Frank Flöthmann’s mournful heroes do not complain, although they have plenty of reasons to do so. Not only do words fail them, but like in “Grimm Tales without Words,” speech balloons are unnecessary in Flöthmann’s “Ein Mann – kein Wort.” But it is of course possible to suffer, curse, yell and pout here – everything that men like to do all day long anyway, and it can all be found here, but without any letters of the alphabet, only surprising pictograms that range from as cute as bunnies to as brutal as a bear.
This book is fun for the whole family, assuming of course that Dad has a sense of humour. Because humour is ... if you can laugh in spite of everything. And a man who can laugh at himself is always in a good mood!
Psst – pass it on!
