Read this book before – before it spoils
From a side dish to a highlight: Vegetables are now the order of the day. Those who used to cook with a can opener are now turning out whole meals from their own garden. But can they bring home the bacon?
It’s time for the three gherkin kings of good taste to help the trend melt in your mouth. Vincent Klink’s recipes make the most of every seasonal dish and Wiglaf Droste undertakes excursions into the countryside: From the vegetarian’s heartfelt groan (“never again beef tomatoes!”) to the princess and the pea. And those who do not find Nikolaus Heidelbach’s drawings al dente enough are not using their noodle.
“Gemüse” is a banquet for all the senses, and the sense of humour as well.

Nikolaus Heidelbach lives in Cologne. He has received many awards for his picture books and illustrations. For his complete works he received the special prize of the German Youth Literature Award 2000. The edition of “Märchen der Gebrüder Grimm“ (The Fairytales of the Brothers Grimm) which he selected and illustrated in 1995 was as acclaimed as his edition of the fairytales of Hans Christian Andersen, published in 2004.

Wiglaf Droste is author, columnist and singer. He lives on the way or in Berlin. In 2003 he received the Ben-Witter-Award for his “combination of rough tone and fine style“, and in 2005 the Annette-von-Droste-Hülshoff-Award. Since 1999 he has been publishing the magazine “Häuptling Eigener Herd“ (Chief Own Oven) together with Vincent Klink.

Vincent Klink cooks in his own Michelin-starred Restaurant Wielandshöhe in Stuttgart (district Degerloch). On television one can take a look at his cooking (“ARD-Buffet”, “Vincent Klinks Kochkunst”). Among other things he has published the culinary yearbook “Rübe” (Turnip) at Haffmans and Klett-Cotta’s “Kulinarischen Almanach” (Culinary Almanac).
